Seminars and legal consulting are performed outside of Dr. Ennis' work hours at the college or on his personal leave.  Therefore, his availability will vary.  His first priority is to his students at the college.

Speaking fees begin at a base rate for a one to three hour seminar that occurs on the same day in the same location.  Each additional hour of continuing education (CE) is at an additional fee.  In addition to speaking fees, reimbursement for actual expenses (or estimated if approved by both parties) is required.

For legal consulting, there is a non-refundable retainer fee for initial work performed and then an incremental fee for additional work.  In addition to retainer fees, reimbursement for actual expenses (or estimated if approved by both parties) is required. Testimonials and Referrals:

"Dr. Jzyk Ennis lives and practices a diversified career in funeral service: licensed funeral director and embalmer, in Alabama and Georgia; former funeral home manager, funeral service educator; funeral service seminar presenter; funeral service author and a fisherman in the world of funeral service law. In addition to  daily classroom responsibilities Dr Ennis lends time to participate in national, state and local association activities. He has become an industry expert witness in matters pertaining to embalming and funeral service liability issues.  Currently, he serves as the 57th President of the American Board of Funeral Service Education, the accrediting body for the 59 college and university programs in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science in the United States. His publications and seminars view 21st century embalming issues through a variety of lenses: the lens of the art and science of embalming, the lens of the psychological, ethical and comfort a family can derive by having the presence of the deceased at a memorial event, the lens of the legal responsibility a funeral service practitioner assumes when taking possession, sheltering, preparing and monitoring the deceased until final disposition. These lenses are best described by his phrase, ”STANDARDS OF CARE.” Dr. Ennis fills his seminars with fresh and stimulating topics of relevance to the new apprentice as well as the long seasoned licensed funeral service practitioner - whether employee, manager or  owner. "
Robert G. Mayer, Primary author/editor of “Embalming: History, Theory and Practice,”  First through fifth editions.

"Jzyk Ennis is a must with any discussion that involves professional standards of care, embalming integrity litigation or funeral service education.  His presentation style is both authoratative and approachable, backed by years of education and experience.  Jzyk has changed the way I educate my students and the way I approach  reconstructive embalming cases."
Dominick Astorino, Adjunct faculty member, Wayne State University Department of Mortuary Science and
a managing director at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. , a funeral home in the Detroit, Michigan area.

"Jzyk Ennis has a phenomenal delivery style for continuing education materials. Jzyk speaks to an audience not at the audience.  I recommend him highly as a speaker for small and large audiences."
Denise Edmisten, Executive Director of the Alabama Funeral Directors Association

"I represented Service Corporation International (SCI) for a number of years in a multitude of different situations and, in that capacity, had an opportunity to work closely with Dr. Ennis, both as a representative for SCI and as an expert on a number of difficult matters. He was always very prepared and professional in giving his testimony before both courts and arbitration panels alike and always made an excellent witness. He is knowledgeable and experienced in this difficult field and has much to contribute to any program dealing with this subject matter. He has my whole hearted endorsement as a teacher, speaker and expert."
Stephen L. Poer, Attorney at Law, Birmingham, Alabama

"Personal knowledge, extensive education, and true compassion are only a few of the reasons we have asked Jzyk Ennis to speak to Vermont Funeral Directors on many occasions. Our members have always found his presentations informative and his dedication to our professions ever present.  Jzyk is a speaker we would recommend to anyone who believes in funeral service and all it has to offer."
Greg Camp, Executive Director, Vermont Funeral Directors Association

As a natural teacher he always holds the attention of his audience with his well researched themes. I receive such positive feedback from my members, we’ll have Jzyk back as long as he’s willing to come to NH."

Education Program, Birmingham, Alabama, and Education Coordinator of the Alabama Funeral Directors

"I have been out of school a long time and often find it difficult to follow a speaker or seminar presenter. It is always a pleasant surprise to have Dr. Ennis be the instructor. I immediately know he will be  professional yet approachable with his lectures. He keeps me engaged and eager to learn more of the subject about which he speaks. His entertaining style leaves his audience with the feeling of time well spent."

2018 NFDA Embalming & Restorative Art Seminar, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:
Participants survey comments, Embalming Risk Management 4.0 - Dr. Jzyk Ennis & T. Scott Gilligan, Esquire.

  • Both presenters were very knowledgeable! Dr. Ennis' book will become a requirement for all embalmers at our funeral homes.
  • For a semi-boring topic, Jzyk and Scott did an amazing job keeping everyone interested. Normally for this topic you look around and see everyone dozing off. Not this time though! It was relatable, and interesting to know some of the old "standards of care" aren't what we should be going by now.
  • Going into this seminar, I thought this was going to be a pointless part of the day. I believe I gained more knowledge from this portion that any other portion of the seminar. Both presenters did a fantastic job.
  • Great info that is relevant to people in today’s world of embalming. Made me aware of real risks embalmers face.
  • Jzyk Ennis is a fantastic speaker especially. Both he and Mr. Gilligan did a great job speaking on relevant topics, and have caused me to be far more in depth with my embalming reports since the session!
  • Seminar was very informative. Especially the legal and standards of care presentations. There are always new issues we have to deal with and these gentlemen keep us up to date on what we need to be paying attention to. I have been licensed in Ohio for 41 years and never say, or think, that I know it all. THANKS.
  • This was very informative and made me think of things that I had not thought of before.
  • very informative. Took some points back to my bosses for possible changes to our embalming authorization.
  • Very insightful, helpful for practical use.
  • Very knowledgeable. Topics discussed are current Issues affecting our industry.
  • Well worth the trip to Pittsburgh. Mr. Ennis and Mr. Gilligan were very informative.

Book Review - Embalming Standard of Care and Embalming and Renal Failure: A Silent Danger for Embalmers
"I just wanted to let you know that in the first term of me introducing your two texts to my students, I have received rave reviews on both of them. Not only are my students getting reinforcement of what they’ve been taught, but they’re absorbing and enjoying the material. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve never seen students so excited to write reports on a text before! Thank you!
Shawna Rodabaugh, Adjunct faculty, Funeral Service Education, Fayetteville Technical Community College (North Carolina)
